I love to have plants inside and outside of the house. For some reason I seem to think that if I water them once a month that is enough. Its obviously not. It doesn't take long to water a few house plants yet I always feel too busy and like I'm rushing around too much to do it. Sad, but true.
So a product like this appeals to me because I can set it up, check on it every once and a while and rest assured that my plants are getting appropriately watered by these probes because you know that I'm not doing it.
When I got the package, I was a little confused. There were no instructions, and I just kind of stuck the probe in the dirt and the line in some water and thought it would work - haha!!! It didn't. So then I checked back here on amazon at the listing to see if I could get some help. There were instructions on here.

(Direct quote)
1. Put the earthen part of the product into the water soak for 10 minutes.
2. Prepare a water containers filled with water (a narrow bottle, such as mineral water bottles).
3. To make sure the ceramic part filled with water.
4. Then it will automatically bring water into the other end of the container, to the plants.
5. Make sure the pottery pieces filled with water, because the green plastic cover tightly with the pottery pieces.
When I did this, I found success! I have an ikea plant stand that holds three plants vertically. Unfortunately, I can only use this with the bottom plant because the line is way too short.
This product is a great idea and especially good for when you are out of town. Even in my case, when out of town I could find a way to rig these up to everything on the plant stand maybe move the stand to a counter, and stack some things on the counter with a water container on top then the line would reach. So for that purpose it would be great! Just for every day I'm a bit limited.
I purchased this set of 10 self watering probes at a discount to review.
They came very carefully packaged in bubble wrap and each probe had its respective line wrapped upon itself nicely and secured with a rubber band. Very neat and orderly.
Have you ever tried a watering system like this? How do you take care of your plants when you're out of town?
